MA Firefighter Injured in Difficult Ski Resort Blaze

To put out the fire at Mt. Tom Ski Resort, Holyoke crews needed to bring water from hydrants at the bottom of the mountain up to the burning ski lodge.

A Massachusetts firefighter was injured while battling a challenging blaze at a ski resort late Sunday.

Holyoke crews responded to a call just before 6:45 p.m. about a fire at the main lodge of the Mt. Tom Ski Area, WWLP-TV reports. Firefighters needed to stay out of the lodge because of unsafe conditions, and water needed to be ferried from hydrants at the bottom of the mountain to the resort.

The injured firefighter was taken to the hospital, and the extent of the injuries wasn't known, WWLP added. The cause of the is under investigation.
