Departments along the Texas and Arkansas border responded to a massive church fire Sunday.
The blaze broke out at about 3:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Texarkana, TX, KTSB-TV reports. That's when a loud pop was heard from the second floor's TV media ministry area, the Rev. Jeff Schreve, the church's pastor, told the TV station.
Along with firefighters from the eastern Texas city and Bowie County, crews from across the border in Texarkana, AR, also battled the blaze. The flames were under control by around 5 p.m., Texarkana, TX, Assistant Fire Chief Chris Black told the Texarkana Gazette.
Four firefighters suffered smoke inhalation from the incident, and they were taken to the hospital as a precaution, Black added. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
