Firefighters from Nashville and other departments responded to a blaze that destroyed a two-story apartment building in Goodlettsville and injured one resident.

Firefighters from Nashville and other departments battled a massive blaze that destroyed a two-story apartment building in Goodlettsville on Tuesday afternoon.

The blaze broke out at the Summerfield Place Apartments, one of the largest buildings on a property that houses a dozen complexes, WSMV-TV reports. Crews from Nashville, Goodlettsville and other departments initially tried to put out the flames but switched to a defensive stance, stopping the fire from spreading to other buildings and allowing it to burn itsellf out.

A resident was injured and taken to the hospital after jumping from a second-floor balcony to escape the blaze, WSMV added.
