A Maryland firefighter was taken to the hospital after battling a residential blaze that also injured a woman early Monday.
The fire broke out just before 4:50 a.m. at a two-story home in Havre de Grace, WJZ-TV reports. According to the state fire marshal's office, the blaze started in the home's living room and set off a smoke alarm, which alerted four adult residents, who were able to escape the building. A female resident was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, authorities added.
Around 40 firefighters from the Susquehanna Hose Company responded to the blaze, the department stated in an online update. While battling the blaze, a firefighter suffered an unspecified medical issues and was taken to the hospital, The Baltimore Sun reports.
Crews needed around 15 minutes to get the flames under control, The Sun added.
