Massachusetts firefighters faced a lack of nearby hydrants while battling a house blaze for four hours early Wednesday.
The fire broke out in the garage of an Upton home at around 12:30 a.m., Wicked Local reports. Two adults and two children were able to escape the flames, which eventually spread throughout the house.
“It was a rather advanced fire and somewhat stubborn,” Upton Fire Chief Mark DiFronzo told Wicked Local.
Crews also encountered a lack of hydrants near the scene. Tankers brought in water for firefighters, and five other departments—Northbridge, Hopedale, Hopkinton, Grafton and Westborough—also responded.
