News video shot during an apartment complex fire in Mobile on Wednesday afternoon shows a heroic bystander reaching into a first floor window and pulling a woman to safety.

WPMI News video from the fire scene shows resident Quinn Parrish at first standing near a firefighter who is donning his hood and SCBA to assist the woman before he takes it upon himself to reach in and pull the woman out of the window.

Mobile Fire-Rescue officials told WPMI that the woman was "hysterical and couldn't cooperate" so the firefighter began to don his full PPE to enter the building and rescue her before Parrish made his quick decision to help.

Parrish told WPMI that he was quick to reach inside because he had been in a similar situation before, although without as good an outcome.

"Because I’ve been in a situation like this before over in Seabreeze," Parrish said. "A little girl had died inside her apartment, and we did all we could to try to get her up out of there. All the smoke and stuff had killed us, and just, so any time I see a fire like that and I'm able to help, I jump right on it."
