Firefighters from multiple departments battled a massive New York church blaze Wednesday that sent flames shooting through the roof.
The fire broke out at around 2:45 p.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Copiague on Long Island, Newsday reports. Crews from several fire departments responded to the incident, according to News 12 Long Island.
Video from the scene shows heavy smoke coming from the church as firefighters arrived. Flames were later seen shooting through the building's roof.
Police told Newsday that the fire started in the church's auditorium. No injuries were reported, and the blaze was not considered suspicious.
As firefighters finished at the scene, they were applauded by residents and onlookers, Newsday added.
