Along with flames, Phoenix firefighters battled sparking downed power lines at a battery storage blaze early Wednesday.
When crews arrived at the scene, they encountered a large amount of flames erupting from the battery storage yard area of a store, the department said in an online update. Firefighters used deck gun water nozzles on apparatus and hand lines to put out the blaze.
While putting out the fire, crews had to contend with other challenges besides the flames. Video footage from KNVX-TV shows firefighters trying to avoid sparking downed power lines, and the TV news outlet said they also had to watch out for the batteries reacted to the water.
