Indianapolis Firefighter Hospitalized after Battling Residential Fire

Indianapolis Fire Department crews responded to a fire that broke out at a vacant house that appeared to have squatters staying inside, according to officials.

An Indianapolis firefighter was injured during a residential fire early Wednesday.

Crews responded to a house fire on the city's near west side, WXIN-TV reports. Although the house was vacant, it appeared that squatters had been staying inisde.

A firefighter was taken to the hospital after being injured battling the flames. Details concerning the nature of the injury and the firefighter's condition were not released.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
