Clark County crews responded to the fire at an apartment complex under construction in southwest Las Vegas that caused an estimated $40 million in damage.

Windy conditions fueled a three-alarm fire at a Las Vegas apartment complex under construction, causing around $40 million in damages.

The fire broke out just before midnight Monday at the residential construction site in the southwest part of the city, KTNV-TV reports. Nearly 90 Clark County firefighters responded to the call, which was elevated to a third alarm after wind gusts sent embers into the surrounding neighborhoods.

"Crews did an outstanding job canvasing the exposed neighborhoods and surrounding areas, putting out tree fires, dumpster fires and preventing any other residences from becoming involved," said CCFD Deputy Fire Chief Warren Whitney.

Crews eventually were able to get the fire under control shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported in the incident.
