Fort Worth firefighters were pulled out of the vacant structure because high winds pushed the fire throughout the one-story home.

Fort Worth firefighters battled a stubborn house fire Saturday night that was fueled by high winds.

Crews were called to the vacant one-story home on Travis Avenue around 9 a.m. and found heavy smoke and fire showing.

Firefighters operated inside the structure, but high winds fanned the flames causing command to pull the firefighters out for a defensive attack.

Crews utilized Truck 1's  master stream and several handlines to bring the fire under control.

About 50 firefighters responded to the scene.
