Along with a fatal tornado that tore through Brunswick County, tornadoes also were reported in parts of Georgia and Florida, injuring at least three.

A fatal tornado that touched down in eastern North Carolina overnight was among the violent weather that tore through some southern states.

A tornado in Brunswick County is being blamed for the deaths of at least three people and injuring 10 others, WTVD-TV reports. The storm hit late Monday-early Tuesday, and Brunswick County's Sheriff's Office said multiple fire departments and law enforcement agencies were assessing the damage and working to clear debris from roads, especially in the Ocean Ridge Plantation area, where "devastating damage to many homes" were reported, the agency said in an online update.

"It's something unlike I have ever seen before," Sheriff John Ingram told WTVD. "A lot of destruction. It's going to be a long recovery process."

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the tornado that hit the south end of Brunswick County early...

Three people also were injured and taken to the hospital after a possible tornado struck Panama City, FL, the Weather Channel added.
