Chicago FFs Rescue Critically Injured Man from Apartment Fire

A 65-year-old man was found on a burning couch in a third-floor apartment of a senior high-rise building in the city's Uptown neighborhood.

A critically injured elderly man was rescued from an apartment fire by Chicago firefighters early Monday.

The fire broke out at about 3:30 a.m. in a senior high-rise building in the city's Uptown neighborhood, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Firefighters found a 65-year-old man on a burning couch and pulled him from a third-floor apartment.

The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. A police officer also was injured but refused medical help at the scene.
