Chicago firefighters saved a man who was hanging outside a window of a burning building Monday.

The residential fire broke out shortly before 1:30 p.m. at a brick two-flat in the city's West Pullman neighborhood, WBBM-TV reports. Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford told the Chicago Sun-Times that the fire originated in the rear of the structure and described the fire as "relatively small."

When crews reached the scene, they found a man dangling from a second-story window in order to escape the flames. Firefighters were able to pull him to safety, and he was evaluated at the scene.

No one was injured in the fire, which displaced about a half dozen residents. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
