Video: NJ Firefighters Battle Fire that Spreads to Nearby Homes

A two-alarm fire erupted at a vacant house that quickly spread to two other residences in Newark, injuring a firefighter and displacing 23 people.

New Jersey crews battled a two-alarm residential fire Thursday that injured a firefighter and displaced 23 residents.

The fire broke out just before 11 a.m. at a vacant home in Newark, WABC-TV reports. Flames quickly spread to two three-story homes, heavily damaging both structures.

During the call, a firefighter suffered a neck injury. He was evaluated at the scene and returned to battling the fire.

Crews brought the flames under control shortly after 12:30 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
