Four Hurt in Fire at CA Apartments Used in 'The Karate Kid'

Los Angeles firefighters responded to a fire at the South Seas apartment building that was used for scenes in "The Karate Kid" and "Cobra Kai."

A Los Angeles apartment building that was used in the popular 1984 movie, The Karate Kid, was damaged in a fire Monday night.

Firefighters were called to the South Seas apartments on Saticoy Street in Reseda about 11:20 p.m..

The fire was contained to one apartment, and contained in less than 15 minutes, according to KTLA.

The television station reported that four people were injured, and at least two were taken to the hospital.

The complex is where The Karate Kid's Daniel Larusso and his mother in the first movie. In the recent Cobra Kai movie, the building also played a role.

Officials highlighted the role that working smoke detectors and a fire alarm played in alerting residents to the fire.
