Spring Valley firefighters rescued at least four residents from the top floor of a multi-story high-rise apartment fire.
Fire crews were dispatched around 1:00 p.m., to the Country Village Towers and arrived to a heavy smoke and fire showing from an apartment on the 7th floor.
At least four residents had to be rescued from the top floor, including a 2-year-old carried down seven flights of stairs through smoke as the top-floor apartment burned, The Journal News reported.
Fire crews and police worked to rescue and evacuate occupants from the building as the hallways filled with smoke and people were blinded, according to Spring Valley Fire Chief Ken Conjura.
Multiple surrounding departments assisted with firefighting operations.
