Allentown firefighters battled a three-alarm fire in a rowhome Tuesday morning that sent a family of six to the hospital.
Firefighters were called to the fire around 6:00 a.m., on the 300 block of Washington Street with initial reports of occupants trapped.
Crews quickly struck three alarms as all three floors of the home were fully involved in fire, and flames shot from the front and back of the home, Capt. John Christopher, with the Allentown Fire Department told WFMZ 69 News.
Firefighters conducted defensive operations to knockdown the massive fire while crews opened the roof to ventilate the structure.
Fire officials said firefighters were hampered by clutter during offensive firefighting operations. "Dragging these hoses just in open space is a job," Christopher told WFMZ. "Now you've got no space due to clutter, it makes it difficult."
Two adults and four children were transported to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
