Massive Fire Temporarily Closes Interstate 10 in AZ

A massive fire near downtown Phoenix caused a temporary closure of Interstate 10 to assess health concerns.

The Phoenix Fire Department battled a massive pile of debris near downtown phoenix which caused a temporary closure I-10 while officials determined if there were any health concerns.

Fire crews responded to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway yard where a large pile of railroad ties was burning.

Firefighters immediately called for more resources and set up defensive positions to attack the flames, AZ Family News reported.

Officials had concerns with the products of combustion related to the creosote and preservatives used in the railroad ties and any hazardous materials they may produce.

Multiple departments battled the blaze for close to two hours to bring the fire under control.
