May 18, 2022
The New Orleans Fire Department responded to two calls involving four vacant buildings in a matter of hours this morning.

The New Orleans Fire Department responded to an intense fire in the Hollygrove neighborhood around 6:15 a.m., where a vacant house located at 3031 Eagle Street was engulfed in flames.

CBS 4WWL reported that the fire had quickly spread to two adjacent homes and firefighters immediately struck a second and third alarm to contain the spread.

Neighbors told WWL-TV that they heard popping noises and their lights flickered before the fire engulfed the homes.

All three houses were reportedly vacant, but neighbors claim they saw people leaving the area at the time of the fire.

This was the second fire in the neighborhood this morning.

The first fire occurred around 1:25 a.m., where NOFD firefighters were called to 2104 Springbrook Lane and found another vacant apartment building in flames.

WWL-TV  said firefighters quickly called for a second alarm at that fire as well as the fire was prominent in two separate locations within the building.
