One Dead, Several Injured in IL Condo Fire

The fire started on the second floor of the Calumet City building and spread to the seventh floor, leaving one dead and seven injured.

Dozens were displaced as fire engulfed multiple floors of a Calumet City condominium building Monday.

Firefighters were called to the Park of River Oaks building and arrived to find fire on multiple floors, seen in video captured on Citizen App.

Fire officials told CBS Chicago that the fire started on the second floor and spread to the seventh floor.

A third-alarm was called bringing dozens of firefighters to the scene to search the sprawling building and to contain the fire.

A woman died in a seventh floor apartment, officials told the television station.

Three firefighters and four residents were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The fire displaced 80 residents and the cause is under investigation.
