Oakland firefighters who battled a blaze near the airport Friday morning were familiar with the structure.
That's because they were there several months ago. "This is a vacant building that was red tagged," Oakland Fire officials said on its Twitter page.
Dark smoke and fire were visible when dispatchers started getting calls about 5:45 a.m. Additional units responded to assist. The fire was deemed under control after 7 a.m.
There were no injuries or flight delays.
