IN Farmers' Co-op Destroyed by Massive Blaze

Dec. 16, 2022
Dillsboro Fire Chief Jason Sullivan immediately requested additional departments to assist.

A farming co-op in Dillsboro was destroyed by fire Thursday afternoon.

"When I arrived, it had a heavy smoke coming out of the building, flames coming out of the middle of it as well. At that point, it was basically just trying to get resources here to help contain this fire," Dillsboro Fire Chief Jason Sullivan told WLWT

Firefighters from nearly a dozen departments assisted with the blaze just off U.S. 50.

All the employees escaped without injury.

Clay Cutter, who lives near the area said the loss of the co-op is devastating.

"It's just one of them things we gotta worry about where we're gonna get our feed for the cows — it's just devastating," Cutter said.

Firefighters remained at the scene throughout the night.
