An 82-year-old woman died and six others were injured early Saturday as a fire tore through her Brooklyn apartment, FDNY officials and police said.

The blaze broke out inside the two story building on Ave. O near W. 5th St. in Bensonhurst about 4:30 a.m., the Fire Department said.

Responding firefighters found the woman unconscious inside a second floor apartment above a clothing store.

She was rushed to Community Hospital, but she couldn’t be saved. Her name wasn’t immediately disclosed as police attempted to locate relatives.

“She was a very nice woman. She kept to herself,” said Peter Vertolomo, who owns an Italian restaurant on the block. “I’d see her outside sweeping all the time. She kept the place clean.”

A firefighter battling the blaze suffered a serious injury and was rushed to Staten Island University North Hospital for treatment, an FDNY spokesman said. Two other firefighters suffered minor injuries.

Three other civilians suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene, FDNY officials said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
