Firefighters battled a massive blaze at Birmingham Recycling and Recovery Wednesday night.

Heavy fire was visible from the structure about 10 p.m.

"There's a heavy fire load, again it's recycling, has paper has plastic, there's some metals so it's kinda hard to get to right now. It's in the center. We have made some headway. Well we got a report of approximately 1000 gallons of diesel fuel, some hydraulic fuel. It's not contained in the fire or involved in the fire," BFR Fire Official Orlando Reynolds told abc33. 

The cause remains unknown.
