One of the oldest homes in Chicago was damaged by fire early Thursday.
Firefighters said the two residents made it out safely, WGN reported.
The house -- on the National Register of Historic Places -- was built in 1869. It's one of a few that predates the Great Chicago Fire.
Over the years, it has been a museum, a place for fine arts and music, as well as a home to several families.
Firefighters said they are investigating the cause. The structure suffered water and smoke damage.
