MA Worker Crushed when 90K Pound Trailer Falls on Him

Dec. 27, 2023
Westborough Fire Chief Patrick Purcell said the weight of the rig filled with water bottles hampered firefighters.

A worker was crushed under a trailer at a Westborough business Wednesday morning.

"We found the male trapped underneath a 53-foot trailer from a tractor-trailer," Westborough Fire Chief Patrick Purcell told WCVB,  adding that it the man was apparently working on the landing gear.

Medics worked on the patient but his injuries were not compatible with life.

The victim, who was not immediately identified, appeared to be a mechanic for one of the companies that operate at the location.

"The trailer was loaded with water, which complicated the call due to the weight within that trailer. We estimate that between the contents and the trailer itself, it was about 90,000 pounds," Purcell added.
