Rural MO FFs Brave Temps to Handle Rash of Fires
Rural firefighters in St. Charles County responded to three structure fires within a 12-hour period earlier this week.
“Typically, we have four or five structures in a year. So to have that in a 12-hour period is significant,” Orchard Farm Fire Protection District Fire Chief Jeremey Hollrah told KMOV.
Firefighters from Orchard Farm and Rivers Pointe were on the scene of a vacant house fire when they spotted another structure on fire down the road.
A man living in the building died.
Later the same day, crews responded to a fully involved truck fire.
The responses during the extreme weather left two firefighters injured after slipping on ice. One suffered a back injury and remained hospitalized while the other was released after treatment.
