A house fire in Mission Hills early Wednesday left a man dead while three others escaped unharmed.
The 72-year-old home that had been converted into a duplex did not have smoke alarms, KTLA reported.
Los Angeles firefighters used saws to cut through metal bars attached to the windows, according to Brian Humphrey, department public information officer.
The 32 firefighters needed just over 20 minutes to access and extinguish the heavy flames.
The cause remains under investigation.
