A resident banged on a station door early Wednesday to alert crews about house fire across the street.
Houston firefighters reported the fire from the single-story structure quickly spread to the two-story house next door. Two handicapped residents there were assisted in escaping.
They were transported as a precaution, KPRC reported adding that the other house was empty.
The cause is under investigation.
