Historic St. Louis Church Destroyed by Massive Blaze

Firefighters initiated ladder pipe operations at the three-alarm fire at the St. Louis church built in 1896.

St. Louis firefighters battled a three-alarm fire at a historic church Monday night.

Ladder piple operations were in place at the the former St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, according to KSDK. 

St. Louis Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson said this is the third fire at the church since 2022. 

Built in 1896, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause.
