Winston-Salem, NC, Firefighters Hit House Fire

There were no smoke alarms in the house that caught fire early Friday morning.

No smoke alarms were present when fire broke out in a Winston-Salem hotuse early Friday.

Eight people were displaced by the fire that was visible for several miles, WXII reported.

Aerial operations were initiated by firefighters.

The cause remains under investigation. 

Fire crews said there were no working smoke detectors.
