The Baltimore City Fire Department is on scene battling an active fire inside a multistory warehouse in West Baltimore, the department said Monday night.
The empty warehouse is at the intersection of Edmondson Avenue and Bentalou Street, according to fire department spokesman John Marsh. Over 100 firefighters have responded to the four-alarm fire, Marsh said. They are mainly attacking the fire from the exterior.
The public is advised to avoid the area.
The Maryland Department of Transportation issued a service alert Monday evening for Penn Line Trains, which “are experiencing delays due to police/fire activity at West Baltimore Station.”
The delays are affecting MARC Trains 544, 446 and 451, officials said.
Earlier Monday afternoon, two firefighters were hospitalized after battling a single-alarm blaze at a salon in downtown Baltimore, according to city fire officials. One of the firefighters was listed in critical condition.
