Hamburg, NY, House Explosion Kills One, Injures Another

The resulting fire that spread to a nearby house was battled by Lake View firefighters.

A house explosion in Hamburg left one person dead and another seriously seriously injured. 

Hamburg police found John Pease, 78, who was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Joene Pease, 78, was found dead in the debris of the house.

A witness told WGRZ reporters they didn't see a fire at first. But, flames erupted and spread to the house next door.

A Lake View firefighter and a Hamburg police officer were transported for treatment of injuries.

The cause remains under investigation.

Nearby residents said they felt the blast in their homes. The extent of damage is not known yet.
