An overnight fire Wednesday caused significant damage to a building at beach club in the Queens community of Breezy Point.

Firefighters were called to the Silver Gull Beach Club on Beach 193rd Street around 4:30 a.m. and found heavy fire in a two-story section of the club on the Atlantic Ocean.

“The first unit to arrive immediately transmitted a second alarm due to the heavy fire, FDNY Deputy Assistant Chief David Simms said in a statement. "At the high point of the fire, we had five hand lines operating due to collapse concerns. Units were pulled out of the building, and we set up an exterior attack."

The fire reached three alarms, bringing firefighters from Queens, Brooklyn and the Point Breeze and Rockaway Point volunteer fire departments.

The fire was placed under control three hours later and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the FDNY Fire Marshals.
