Three brothers perished after falling into a freezing pond in Bonham.

EJ, 9, and Kaleb, 8, went into the pond after Howard, 6, went underwater, the boys' mother told Fox4.

Bonham fire officials confirmed the elementary school students died in the Fannin County pond.

A neighbor quickly pulled the mother out of the water after she jumped in to help.

It was the second tragedy to strike north Texas in less than a day.

On Sunday, Elizabeth Angle, 16, was killed in a sledding mishap.

She and another girl were riding on a sled pulled by a 16-year-old boy driving a Jeep. The sled slammed into a curb and crashed into a tree.

The other sled rider remains on life support.

Friends and family have created a memorial at the scene of the crash.
