BRINC Drones Unveil Free Wildfire and Smoke Tracking
For real-time smoke coverage and live wildfire tracking, BRINC unveiled two new BRINC LiveOps map layers. The new layers, which are freely accessible to all BRINC clients, provide vital wildfire intelligence to public safety organizations in addition to their current drone activities.
The new layers, which are based on data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), show smoke conditions and active fire detections on the same map that organizations now use to oversee drone operations, live video, and incident response. Teams can observe smoke coverage, fire activity or both as part of a single operational picture by separately toggling each layer.
As they evaluate and plan the response to wildfires, the new capabilities provide fire departments and emergency management with an additional source of real-time intelligence. Additionally, they assist law enforcement organizations working in impacted communities in maintaining situational awareness while operations on the ground are complicated by smoke and decreased visibility.
"When agencies are stretched thin responding to wildfires, the last thing they need is another screen to check," said Blake Resnick, BRINC founder and CEO. "Our customers already run their drone operations in our software. Now fire activity and smoke conditions are right there on the same map. And like every BRINC integration, it's free."
By combining the data first responders require into a unified operational perspective, the wildfire and smoke layers demonstrate BRINC's more comprehensive approach to LiveOps. During an emergency, LiveOps gathers drone footage, dispatch data, third-party data and other operational intelligence in one location rather than requiring agencies to switch between disparate systems.
One of BRINC's distinguishing characteristics is the rapid development of LiveOps based on client input. In order to better assist teams in understanding road conditions and managing vehicle pursuits, BRINC included Google Maps traffic data when clients requested real-time traffic conditions. Agencies recognized a need, BRINC developed the capacity, and all customers had access to the additional layers in a matter of days.
Customers of BRINC receive all LiveOps enhancements, updates and core integrations at no extra cost. BRINC keeps developing new features and integrating LiveOps with the tools and data sources that first responders depend on on a daily basis when agencies discover new operational requirements.
