Some 2,000 firefighters are battling the Oak Fire near Yosemite National Park.

They are facing tough conditions as the wildfire burns out of control through the tinder-dry forest and grows into one of California's biggest blazes of the year.

CBS Mornings reported that the massive wildfire in Mariposa County tripled in size this weekend and forced more than 6,000 residents to evacuate.

Smoke from the fire can be seen from the International Space Station.

The fire was sparked Friday near the Mariposa County town of Midpines.

It is zero percent contained.
