Just before 19:30 on Sunday evening, Littleton Fire Communications alerted units to the 6800 block of South Broadway for a reported building fire. Within 4 minutes of the initial 911 call, Littleton Battalion 1 arrived on scene with heavy fire showing from the third floor of an occupied apartment building on Highline Circle.
First due units laid a supply line across Broadway which had to be closed for several hours, and advanced lines into the building. While evacuation was still taking place, crews made an initial attack from the exterior and knocked down the fire just prior to interior crews making entry into the fire apartment.
After the initial knock down, fire was visible in the third floor façade extending into a neighboring apartment and roof area. Command transmitted the second alarm 10 minutes into the incident bringing additional Littleton units. Extensive overhaul began on the third floor and roof as other crews completed searches in the building which all proved negative.
At the height of the incident an additional Battalion, Engine, Medic and Air Truck over the second alarm responded from Englewood Fire to assist. Action Care Ambulance, Arapahoe Rescue Patrol and the American Red Cross also responded to the scene. Crews remained on scene well into the night. A cause of the fire has not been determined at this time.
