Firefighters from Norwood, Massachusetts battled a tough 2-alarm fire at 601 Normandy Drive on April 15, 2004.
First arriving companies encountered heavy smoke showing from a 2.5-story, wood-frame townhome complex. Companies began an aggressive interior attack on the fire, but were soon ordered to evacuate the fire building due to heavy fire conditions.
The fire spread to engulf 4 townhome apartments before firefighters were able to stop the fire at a fire wall.
Units from the towns of Westwood, Canton, and Foxboro were called in to assist in fighting the fire. The Red Cross was also called in to assist many residents that were driven out from the fire.
