Lucky Driver Survives Head-On Collision with Semi in Campville, Florida

At 6:26 am, firefighters and rescue personnel from Alachua County Fire Rescue, Melrose Fire Rescue, and Windsor Volunteer Fire Department responded to a head-on collision at the intersection of SE 163rd Street and CR1474 in Campville.

CAMPVILLE, FL (Feb 26) - At 6:26 am, firefighters and rescue personnel from Alachua County Fire Rescue, Melrose Fire Rescue, and Windsor Volunteer Fire Department responded to a head-on collision at the intersection of SE 163rd Street and CR1474 in Campville.

When crews arrived on scene, they found the driver of a small minivan still pinned in his vehicle following a collision with a fully loaded logging truck. Although the driver's entrapment required extensive extrication, he remained stable and was subsequently flown by Shandscair to Shands UF in serious condition.

The driver of the logging truck was shaken but unharmed following the accident which remains under investigation at this time.
