A 2-11 alarm fire occurred at 1906 East 73rd Street in Chicago on the morning of Thursday, January 22, 2004.
The fire involved a commercial building consisting of a cleaners, a mosque and a grocery/liquor store.
There was a severe exposure problem to an adjoining 3 story multi-unit building and the fire appeared to have gotten in on at least 2 of the 3 floors.
This fire was fought in single digit temperatures with a below zero wind chill. Two tower ladders, a snorkel and numerous handlines were used, including point of vantage operations from the exposure.
