On a bitter cold January 13, 2004 around 11:15 PM., the Holbrook, Massachusetts Department responded to a report of a house fire. First due companies arrived and reported smoke showing from a two and a half story 20x30 occupied wood frame structure.

Upon entering the building they were confronted with moderate fire on the first floor. A working fire was ordered and companies began to stretch lines and vent the building. The fire extended from the first floor to the second floor and then into the attic.

The second alarm was struck shortly after the working fire dispatch. Fire was knocked down on the first floor, but heavy fire had extended to the second floor and attic.

Fire conditions started to deteriorate rapidly and all companies were ordered out of the building. Exterior operations were ordered due to the amount of heavy fire on the second floor and attic.

Companies knocked the bulk of the heavy fire down and advanced into the second floor and to make an interior attack to knock down the remaining fire.

Holbrook Fire Department was assisted by Randolph, Braintree, and Avon Fire Departments.
