Los Angeles County firefighters from Station 31 were first on scene at 15332 Paramount Boulevard. They reported a single story, single family dwelling with a back bedroom with fire and smoke showing.
Firefighters forced entry for a fire attack as the blaze was well established in the attic. Firefighters pulled ceiling as heavy fire overhead spread to the front of the house.
As the center of the attic collapsed inwards, Los Angeles County firefighters were ordered out of the house and continued fighting the blaze from outside the structure. Firefighters also went to work protecting an exposure, another house to the south. It took firefighters close to an hour to bring the blaze under control.
There were no reported injuries, the cause of the late night blaze is under investigation.
