Jan. 19, 2021
Next week, FEMA opens the application period for its fiscal year 2020 Fire Prevention and Safety Grant Program, which has $35.5 million in funding available.

The application period for FEMA's Fire Prevention and Safety Grant Program for fiscal year 2020 opens next week.

The federal agency will begin accepting applications at 8 a.m. ET Monday, Jan. 25. The period closes at 5 p.m. ET February 26.

With $35.5 million in funding available, the Fire Prevention and Safety Grant Program is one of three Federal Emergency Management Agency grant programs aimed at enhancing the safety of the public and firefighters as it relates to fire and fire-related hazards. One of the aspects FEMA's administrator considers when rewarding grants is the degree that the funding will reduce deaths, injuries and property damage by reducing risks associated with fire-related and other hazards.

FEMA will offer live webinars giving an overview of the program. Go to FEMA's website for more information about and to apply for the Fire Prevention and Safety grants.
