Firefighters rescued a young goat who became entangled in a steel frame in Thompson on Sunday night.

Fire crews responded to a report of the animal becoming stuck in the steel framework of a utility trailer at 9:11 p.m. after caretakers found that the goat was “firmly wedged” in the frame, according to the Thompson Fire Engine Company.

Fire officials said the animal’s horns could not be freed. Fire crews evaluated the situation and made several attempts to free the goat before determining that a section of steel angle iron would need to be removed from the trailer.

Crews freed the animal after using specialized tools to remove the obstruction, fire officials said.

“The rescue was completed successfully, the goat is doing well, and firefighters returned to service with yet another story that no one would have believed had there not been photographs,” Thompson fire officials wrote in a Facebook post.
