Two People Rescued From St. Louis House Fire

Two people rescued from a house fire in south St. Louis city are recovering, firefighters said Saturday.

Nov. 29--Two people rescued from a house fire in south St. Louis city are recovering, firefighters said Saturday.

The fire started around 4 p.m. on Saturday on the first floor of a two-story home in the 7700 block of Alaska Avenue near Courtois Street in the city's Carondelet neighborhood.

Firefighters rescued the two residents, who were taken to the hospital by ambulance and are listed in stable condition, according to a spokesman for the St. Louis Fire Department.

The department's Gregg Favre credited smoke detectors with helping save the two residents.
