Feb. 10—Scaffolding that collapsed at a Mansfield apartment complex construction site crushed a car and injured at least two people Thursday morning.

The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Watson Branch Road, off FM 157 between Debbie Lane and Mouser Way, the Mansfield Fire Department said. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene after a report that people were trapped.

"Upon arrival, our crews found a vehicle was struck after scaffolding collapsed at a construction site," the fire department said. "Three people were inside the vehicle when it was struck. Two patients were able to get out of the vehicle, but the third required extrication."

One person was flown to a nearby hospital by CareFlite to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, a second was taken to a nearby Arlington hospital by the fire department and the third individual refused to be taken to a hospital, officials said.

Details surrounding the individuals' ages, or conditions, remain unknown.

The investigation into the cause of the collapse remains ongoing, the fire department said.
