A medical emergency turned out to be anything but routine for Fort Worth firefighters Saturday.
When crews found their patient was inside a crane cab about 220 feet up in the air, they requested the technical rescue team.
The technicians carried the equipment necessary for the resce and climbed the crane's ladder -- about 22 stories -- to reach him, according to a Fort Worth Fire Department release.
While the patient was being treated by EMS, the technicans were devising a plan to bring him down. They rigged a system, and lowered the crane operator to the ground -- within less than an hour.
He was transported to a hospital in stable condition.
