March 2, 2026

It was one of those rescues that will long be remembered -- the day a hot air balloon hit the communications tower.

And it was far from a routine day for Longview Firefighters Cliff Patrick and Steven Winchell.

They are the ones who rescued two people trapped in the balloon's basket about 925 feet in the air, KLTV reported.

There were no injuries.
